Maximum recovery of energy and materials

SLECO processes non-hazardous industrial waste, industrial water treatment sludge and sludge from water purification in its three fluidized bed incinerators. The combustion process takes place in a bed of sand under immense centrifugal force and at a temperature of at least 850 °C. 

Energy recovery

Rational energy management was key when the fluidized bed plant was designed. So the furnaces were built to recover energy as efficiently as possible. The heat from the thermal processing is recovered in a vertical steam boiler. The steam produced is fed into the steamnetwork ECLUSE to meet the demands of neighbouring companies. The remainder is fed into a turbine generator and converted into electricity which is then fed into the public electricity grid.

Extensive flue gas cleaning system

The flue gasses undergo intensive scrubbing in order to meet stringent emission requirements. Electrostatic filters remove the fly ash. On the one hand, Lime is injected into the circo clean reactor in order to capture chlorine and sulphur components and, on the other hand, lignite is injected for the removal of heavy metals and dioxins. The baghouse filters separate solid particles. The residues from flue gas cleaning are, if necessary, first solidified and then disposed of in a Class 1 landfill. The final step in the flue gas cleaning process is the removal of the chlorine and sulphur residue via wet scrubbers. Continuous monitoring of the emissions guarantees that the treated flue gasses that leave the chimney always meet the strictest environmental standards. 

Valuable raw materials

The pre-treatment plant of the fluidized bed incinerator removes the metal fraction in the supplied waste beforehand. This scrap metal fraction is cleaned in the pre-treatment plant for energy-rich waste so that it can be reused.
